Adrianne Cury is the Casting Director for The American Fathers Podcast
Adrianne has had the privilege of working as an actor with Writers' Theatre, Famous Door, Next, First Folio, Chicago Shakespeare, Chicago Shakespeare Project, Drury Lane Evergreen Park, Bailiwick, Strawdog, Apple Tree, National Jewish, Lifeline, About Face, Chicago Dramatists, and a dozen principal roles with both Organic/Touchstone and ShawChicago, where she was formerly casting director and associate artist. Her honors include: Jeff Award nomination(TWO BY SHAW - Writer's Theatre); Jeff Citation (Maggie in CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF - Zebra Crossing); and two After Dark Awards (SHRAPNEL IN THE HEART - Famous Door & DAVID'S REDHAIRED DEATH- Bailiwick). Regional theatre credits: Indiana Repertory, BoarsHead, Human Race, New American, Artists Ensemble, and Wisconsin Shakespeare. Some favorite credits include both Masha and Arkadina in THE SEAGULL; L'il Bit in HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE ; Angela in WONDERFUL TENNESSEE; Alma in SUMMER & SMOKE , and Rosemary in PICNIC . Most recent acting credits include Helen Alving in Ibsen's GHOSTS for ShawChicago, which traveled to Konya, Turkey via a MacArthur grant; as well as the world premiere of Patricia Kane's FLOAT with About Face Theatre. Directing credits: the experiment - Stockyards Theatre Project; YOU NEVER CAN TELL - Village Players; SCOUNDREL TIME & THE THIN MAN - City Lit; SENSE & SENSIBILITY &MAURITIUS - Theatre of Western Springs; RAVENSCROFT - Triton College; and CHRISTMAS IS MADE FOR FOOLS - Step Up Productions. Occasionally, she coaches dialects and is currently teaching Italian for a production of LEND ME A TENOR at Triton College. Ms. Cury is a proud member of Actor's Equity & SAG-AFTRA; and has been teaching and coaching both adults & teens at ActingStudioChicago since 2004, as well as guest teaching at Triton, North Central College,Theater of Western Springs, and Village Players. She has twice taught, via an NIH grant, a series of acting classes to Senior citizens to track cognitive improvement. Ms. Cury recently finished narrating her second audiobook, Johnny Payne's SECOND CHANCE, soon to be released on Amazon.She received a grant to travel to Grand Manan Island off the coast of New Brunswick, Canada this summer to teach acting to teens for two weeks.
